Local CW affiliate holding open auditions for on air talent

WCWG CW 20 will hold it’s first open auditions Saturday October 28, 2006 at Hanes Mall located at 3320 SILAS CREEK PKWY, WINSTON-SALEM, NC from 11am to 1pm on the first floor below the food court. Please bring your resume and a demo tape if you have one. You may also submit your resume and audition tape to: WCWG C/O Talent Search 622-G Guilford College Rd. Greensboro, NC 27409. Acceptable tape formats include: VHS, DVD, and DVC Pro.


50 candidates will be selected; their videos will be posted on WCWG20.com and the top five to receive the most votes will go on local radio stations to display their talents and two candidates will be eliminated. The remaining three will shoot another video demo and the one that receives the most interest will become the station's new on-air personality.

Greensboro Bark Park

YouTube has amateur video of the scene at the Greensboro Bark Park. I take my dogs there on occasion, but I wasn't there the day this video was made. On pretty weekends, the crowd gets to be in the hundreds. The park has three sections or lots. The video was made in the main section. I usually go to the lot for "loner dogs," because one of mine is agressive.

Pumpkin carving

Ray Villafane is an amazingly talented artist, teacher, sculptor, painter, who carves pumpkins into very interesting 3-D faces. I was jazzed to see he also carves toys and collectibles with great skill. From his bio, you should see samples of his other work, where he has tried painting and other types of scuplting, including tying flies.

Jesus Camp

Plugged In Online reviews Jesus Camp, a documentary about a Charismatic Christian children's camp which gets children "to repent, pray, worship, fast and speak in tongues." The verdict, as Ted Haggard aptly puts it: "'[You] can learn as much about the Catholic Church from Nacho Libre' as you can learn about evangelicalism from Jesus Camp. He continued, 'It does represent a small portion of the charismatic movement, but I think it demonizes it. Secularists are hoping that evangelical Christians and radicalized Muslims are essentially the same, which is why they will love this film.'"

The Brick Testament

The Brick Testament is the Bible illustrated using Legos. The above illustration is for Genesis 26:34. "When Esau was forty years old he married Judith daughter of Beeri the Hittite, and Basemeth daghter of Elon the Hittite." I think those Hittite wives look like Dark Lords of the Sith.
