War

"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and
degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."

Unfairenheit 9/11 - The lies of Michael Moore. By Christopher Hitchens

"I think we can agree that the film is so flat-out phony that 'fact-checking' is beside the point. "

Terrorizing good people

Beheadings are effective at terrorizing us, because those things horrify a humane, compassionate people. We do not have the stomach for it; we're not soldiers. The terrorists know this. It is their way of bypassing the military and engaging each one of us in psychological warfare, knowing that, in democratic societies, we can pressure our leaders to capitulate. WE MUST NOT CAPITULATE!! We must stay strong! We must RESIST EVIL, or we will be ruled by it!

#42 (or, as I like to call him, "number two")

I hope you have enough sense to stay away from jefferson rodham's book. Please do not soil yourself with that garbage. Perhaps he should get the Pulitzer Prize for FICTION.

Michael Moore lies

Moorelies.com | News: From the You Seriously Must Be Joking Files

I can't use nice words to describe this creature, so I'll keep my thoughts to myself. I'm thankful for this blog.

anything but ordinary

Indeed.

Ideas

These are taken from Wilf Lunn interview on B3ta. He's a British satirist, he says, from Yorkshire.

Tombstone idea: "End of Part 1?". [He's an atheist. If it were mine, I'd take off the question mark]

Why are elephants grey?

God ran out of time. It's just the undercoat.

How tall is red?

I can't do the decimal conversion but it's getting taller, although, interestingly, the width is the same.

Man Happier About Switch to Mac than Conversion to Christianity

I thought this was amusing, because I'm a fan of both Jesus, and Apple computers, in that order, although everyone else probably thinks I manifestly have it the other way around. May God cause my iMac to die if it ever becomes an idol. Amen.

Raffle tickets

Please don't try to sell me a raffle ticket. That's gambling. How's that gambling? I'm not buying a product or service. I'm buying a chance of winning. If I win, it's because umpteen other people lost. I'm depriving umpteen other people of their money. I'm getting something for nothing. I'm coveting. Coveting is a sin. Luck is an idol. There is no such thing as luck. Only God rules. Not fate. Not destiny. Not luck. Just God. If you believe God will bless you, then why are you putting your money on "fate"? Why would God use a raffle ticket? Why would God bless you by stealing from the other people who lost their money on a worthless raffle ticket? God knows where you live. If he wanted you to have a million dollars, what's stopping Him? You're buying a raffle, or lottery ticket, because you're trying to get something you don't deserve so you can say "God blessed me", when really, it was the Devil. The Devil loves to make your wishes and dreams come true, because it makes you his servant, and takes your eyes off of the Holy God.

By the way, God has instructions for how to be blessed and where to put your money. In His word, He says we are to give to the poor who have nothing to give in return.

Welfare for the rich

I am really offended that our Guilford County commissioners would consider giving $1.168 million to RF Microdevices (RFMD) to help them expand their business, ostensibly to keep them from moving away and taking jobs with them. This constitutes extortion and a taxpayer-funded bribe. Bribery is a sin. It's never right to do wrong to get a chance to do right. I don't care if you hold a public forum on it (June 24 6:30 PM at the courthouse) and get citizen's approval of it, it's still a bribe. I don't care how many times you've done it in the past, or how many other cities or states bribe businesses to stay put, it's still a bribe. The kinds of jobs that RFMD creates are for college-educated professionals. Can't these people afford to be profitable and expand their own business without subsidies? They've had all the advantages. How are they suffering?

Serial comma

I got a chuckle out of this punctuation article.

"The standard example of how confusion can result from the absence of a serial comma is the book dedication (probably fictional): 'To my parents, Ayn Rand and God'. A comma before the 'and' would rule out the unlikely possibility that the writer's parents are Ayn Rand and God."

Thank God for commas.
